Thanks to:

I'd especially like to thank my wife Christine, Billy Oskay, Tom Hood, and Michael Allen for making sure this album was made.  I would also like to thank the musicians for their creativity and whole-hearted efforts, as well as master luthier Jeff Elliot for loaning me his first Classical guitar (circa 1968) for this project.

About Ipso Facto

Cam Newton is a fifth generation, classically trained musician whose early exposure to the music of the Western European Classical tradition, American and Brazilian jazz, and world folk music preceded and informed his interest in pop music. As a composer, this early education led him to experiment with the mixing of these various styles/traditions during the1970s, predating and anticipating the "New Age" and "World Music" trends that occurred during the 1980s and 90s.

Ipso Facto takes the listener on a journey through the stylistic variety of Cam’s music, highlighting his lyricism and brilliance as a composer and guitarist. The album also features the world class playing of Moroccan percussionist Tariq Banzi, the subtlety and warmth of bassist Mark Schneider, and a cameo by Billy Oskay, founding member of Nightnoise one Windham Hill Records most successful recording groups. Billy Oskay’s stellar production values and engineering expertise are apparent throughout. Ipso Facto incorporates expressions of Cam’s admiration for the spirit and musicianship of Django Reinhardt, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Mason Williams, Randy Newman, and Thelonious Monk.

Previous work includes two critically acclaimed international releases, "Welcome Aliens" and "The Motive Behind the Smile" (both on the now defunct INNER CITY RECORDS label). The line up on these releases included Mark Isham, Nightnoise, Eddie Daniels, Patrick O’Hearn, Michael Urbaniak, and Jim Pepper to name a few.
